Mercy Ships is a global nonprofit organisation that operates the world’s largest civilian hospital ships, providing free, life-saving medical care and humanitarian aid to people in developing countries. Since 1978, Mercy Ships has delivered advanced treatments, including surgery, dental, and eye care, while training local healthcare professionals. The ships are staffed by volunteers from over 60 countries, including doctors, nurses, allied health workers, engineers, chefs, teachers and more. Focusing on regions with limited healthcare access, Mercy Ships aims to improve local healthcare infrastructure. In addition to direct care, they strengthen healthcare systems through training and education, ensuring lasting impact. Mercy Ships partners with local governments, hospitals, and other non-profits to maximise outreach and effectiveness.
