Lynne Scott
Physiotherapist, Burwood Hospital Pain Management Team, Christchurch, NZ
I have worked in the field of pain management since 1999 on the background of predominantly MSK work prior. Having started at the Burwood Centre I then moved to the UK to seek experience across a range of pain management services there, both clinically and in leadership roles. On return to NZ in 2015 I re-joined the interdisciplinary Burwood team and have continued to enjoy working with the complex range of patients the service provides for.
Alongside my clinical work with groups and individuals, I take a significant role in mentoring and supervising colleagues locally and nationally, supporting them to learn and improve their capacity to provide evidence-based pain management. Alongside the Burwood team I regularly provide education across a range of forums. I have been involved with the ongoing development of national and local pathways for chronic pain in adults and for children. I have special interest and experience in the management of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and Functional Neurological disorders. Other clinical interests include interdisciplinary provision of graded exposure programs and development of innovative individual programmes for complex presentations. |
Moving from Dysfunction to Functional Rehabilitation Graded Reactivation Plans
Alongside my colleague Blair Cross, we intend to present a very practical guide to supporting patients with chronic pain to improve their capacity to engage in function across any domain of life that they value.
