Mathew Kiore is an active member of our Otago and South Island Māori community, with a wide range of portfolio’s, including Board member at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Otepoti, Co-Chair of the Dunedin Postvention group, Founder of ‘Kia Whai Hina’ (Māori Suicide Prevention programs), Rongoa Practitioner of Mirimiri, Romiromi & Wairuatanga, Principal Advisor Service Design for Oranga Hinengaro, United Nations Otago Executive Board Member, and a member of the Complaints Assessment Committee with the Teachers Council.
Mathew is passionate advocate, and is all about looking after people. Equity and Cultural Humility are areas he has focused on during his career in Education, Justice and Health, where he brings the richness of his rural upbringing, insights of Te Ao Māori Tikanga and Te Reo Oro Oro, and lived experiences supporting his community. Mathew was born in Invercargill and is of Ngāti Maniapoto & Ngāti Rora ancestry. He is a lead by example, hands on person who enjoys the outdoors. |
