Dr Nicki Weld is a part time senior lecturer at the University of Auckland on the Post Graduate Professional Supervision programme in New Zealand. Nicki is a registered social worker who has worked for in a variety of social service and child protection roles within the New Zealand government and non -government sector. Nicki is the author of seven social books, and the primary creator of the Three houses tool that is applied internationally.

Critical reflection invites us to make sense of experiences through a process of describing, analysing, and questioning. Through this process, practice mistakes and difficulties can provide valuable learning that contributes to the development of practice wisdom and knowledge for both the worker and other professionals. In this presentation the concept of critical reflection will be defined, along with a description of a simple process to enact it.
