Sue is a Nurse Practitioner and the clinical lead of the Acute Pain Team at Hutt Valley Hospital. Sue has worked in Pain Management of both adults and paediatrics in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Her current role involves assessment, treatment and education of acute and chronic pain management for both patients and staff. Her passion for effective treatment planning and management of pain has been put to good use with the recent establishment of a perioperative complex pain clinic. Outside of work, Sue enjoys a good Wellington coffee, a swim in the ocean or a walk in the bush.

The abundance of self-help resources for patient living with pain can be a minefield for the occasional pain clinician. In an increasingly busy healthcare environment, where patient consultations are time limited, how can clinicians introduce and teach patients about the use of online self-management tools? This presentation provides a tour of selected free resources through the lens of a patient story and highlights how online resources for self-management can be integrated into the patient consultation.
