Chair Person's Notes
Thank you for agreeing to Chair a session!
Following are some instructions to assist you in this role. PLEASE ENSURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK THE DATE AND TIME OF THE SESSION YOU ARE CHAIRING!
- Visit the registration desk for messages and to collect speaker gifts. Please note Free Paper presenters do not receive a speaker gift. The registration desk is located in the Glenroy Foyer of the Dunedin Centre.
- Start the session on time and time keep throughout the session. A bell will be provided for your use to help you ensure sessions run to time. Usually you would 'ding' the bell when the speaker has 2 minutes left to talk. Let the speaker know this prior to the session starting so they know what the 'ding' means!
- Remind delegates to switch cell phones to silent. Don't tell them to turn their phones off though, otherwise they won't be able to use the mobile app.
- Introduce the speaker to the audience. Speaker bios are available on the SPEAKERS page of this website or the NZPS24 Mobile App. Bios are not to be read out in full but are for your reference. A 1-2 sentence introduction for each speaker should be sufficient.
- Coordinate the questions by calling on audience members, repeating the questions so the entire audience can hear it and directing the question to the speaker.
- Make a closing statement.
- Thank the speaker for their contribution to the meeting.
- Subject to speaker permission, PPTs will be available on the website post conference, for up to 6 months.
